Timber Framed Post and Beam

Timber framed homes, ah yes one of my favorites.These type of homes offer such a luxurious and spacious atmosphere that once inside one may never want to leave.The view of exposed fresh cut timber reaching to the roof is amazing.

Small timber homes with this type of structure, give off the feeling of a very large home.Very large timber homes of this type are quite a site to see.

Some of these homes have a modern day look from the outside but have the look and feel of a timber framed post and beam home on the inside.


One of the most important advancements in timber frame construction has probably been the introduction of energy efficiency.Today's post-and-beam homes have large southern windows for passive solar heating, circulating air and insulated roof panels. The result is some of the best insulated, most energy efficient homes in existence today.

Backwoods Home Magazine is a country oriented “how to” magazine that specializes in showing people how to build their own home, produce independent energy, grow their own food, and how to make a living without being tied to a city. They also cover related subjects such as health, raising animals, food preservation, country skills, home schooling, arts and crafts, recipes, and book reviews.

The current issue is only partially available online,but there are also many back issues to read from.
